This AR-based urban exploration system emerged from my participation in an urban design competition in 2020, focusing on the City East Ring in Guangzhou—a district that holds Guangzhou's earliest reform and retains its traditional charm.
Our original architecture design was inspired by the daily rhythms of local residents, with a focus on renovating the old district while maintaining its rich local culture. Although the project faced policy hurdles, halting progress in 2021, my ongoing reflections drive its evolution. Moving beyond the architect's lens, this project explores how technology can enhance experiences for tourists, locals, and workers in the district.
